• Flexible robotics for food production

maxon motor participates in research project: Cognitive Robots for Flexible Agro Food Technology (FlexCRAFT)

It’s becoming a reality! Robots that automatically harvest tomatoes or package biscuits in boxes of various sizes. It requires fast and effective generation of movements in a complex environment. This is easy for people to do, but still remains a tough challenge for a robot. Until now! Because Wageningen University & Research is working together with various partners to develop flexible robotics for food production as part of the new and comprehensive FlexCRAFT research programme. We as maxon motor, are a proud partner in this research project. While robots still require extensive development when it comes to grasping objects of different shapes, sizes and degrees of hardness. It’s about developing skills and intelligence for robots, that can be deployed worldwide and in a wide range of high-tech applications.

  • Let light shine down on Opportunity

Almost one year to this day 15 years ago, NASA Rover Opportunity embarked on its journey to Mars.

On July 7, 2003, the NASA twin robot Opportunity embarked on its journey to the Red Planet from Cape Canaveral, Florida. Today, 15 years later, it is still sending life signs back to Earth – despite a heavy sand storm.

maxon presenteert nieuwe EPOS en EC-i.

  • Integration made easy.

EPOS2 Positioning Controllers support additional Platforms.

The successful maxon motor EPOS2 motion controllers for DC and BLDC motors are being en-riched by even more possible fields of applications.

  • Aquatic Solutions Conference on electrical actuated underwater applications now open for registration

The Aquatic Solutions Conference (ASC) is an international, independent conference dedicated to advance the professional and scientific understanding of underwater solutions, focusing on electrical actuated units. By providing an independent platform, the ASC is able to generate a strong network where science and practice meet, to find real solutions for real challenges.

  • ESCON Module 24/2 Servo Motor Controller

Mini from outside – maxi from within.

As addition to the successful ESCON servo controller family, maxon motor presents another miniaturized, postage stamp-sized OEM plug-in module. The high-performance 4-quadrant PWM servo motor controller is designed to command permanent-magnet-activated brushed DC mo-tors and BLDC motors (brushless DC motors, so-called EC motors) with Hall sensors up to 48 Watt continuous output and 144 Watt peak output. As part of the ESCON family it stands for high usability, exceptional performance, and unprecedented power density in servo motor con-troller technology. More comfort, functionality, protection, and performance can hardly be at-tained.

  • More versions, more power – the new DCX motors and GPX gearboxes

New additions to the maxon family of X drives

Now even stronger, more efficient and with yet more combination options: There are new addi-tions to the maxon family of X drive products. Several long versions of brushed DC motors, with higher torques and more power, are being added to the product range, together with matching planetary gearheads. Each of the 3-stage versions can now be combined with the next smaller motor. This saves space, weight and costs.

  • Driven magazine: The operating room of the future

    High-tech for health and beauty

The new issue of driven – the maxon motor magazine – is now available. In this issue, we peek over the shoulder of a surgeon using the da Vinci surgical robot, present a new device for cardiac patients and take a look at the world's first cordless tattoo machine.
